This Blog Got Mentioned on WFMU by Bronwyn C. See? There is Something Good in Jersey

OK get all the New Jersey jokes out of your system because I don’t wanna hear ‘em. I was on the radio. Besides, in this age of internet radio whatta you care where the station is? That’s me trying to use some lingo there. Chicago (where I am) and pretty much the whole state of Jersey (where the Bronwyn does her radio show from) are both famous for having “dees, dat and dem” mob guys walking around. But both are exaggerations. In fact; mafia? What mafia? There’s no such thing. But yeah, a couple of days ago she gave the blog an endorsement and if I’ve done this correctly this post SHOULD have an audio clip. It’s only about a minute long so give it a listen.

Who Knocked Suge Knight the Hell Out at Night Club?

So I’ve got be VEEERYY careful how I handle this. Yesterday I wrote about how living in Hollywood taught me a lot about showbiz people. How it is a VERY cutthroat business. And most people don’t equate "Hollywood" the idea with "Los Angeles" the city. And just in case you folks forgot; LA is a Bitch! South Central, Watts, Long Beach. All the shit is NOT a joke. I’m from Chicago’s South Side and I put in 10 years in Money Makin’ Manhattan; Alphabet City and Hell’s Kitchen to be exact so I KNOW rough when I see it. But Hollywood is both an idea and a neighborhood that I lived in for nine years. 90028 Y’all! And currently around the corner from my old apartment Suge Knight has a club. Well TMZ, who I’m embarrassed to say I’m getting this story from, reported that Suge got into a tussle. And this is where I have to be careful…he may not have come out ahead in the altercation. I’m saying right here; I don’t know a thing . These are just some video/photos I saw. I do not know a thing. I am moving back to LA by the end of the year, and I DO NOT KNOW A THING. Suge might have won the fight.

Come To Chicago for our R Kelly Trial. Forget Saving up for the Olympics

I was going to post a bunch of pictures FROM the sex R. Kelly Sex video . But I thought that might be too much. But who knows, as the trial goes on, I may put in the DVD and take a few still shots. So let’s get down to business. R. Kelly is finally going on trial for his “alleged” sexual misconduct with a minor. Including of course the urination thing, although truth be told, I don’t think the urine thing is actually illegal. Huh! How about that? No doubt if you’re reading this blog you’ve seen the Dave Chapelle video “I Wanna Pee on you .” I didn’t embed that either, but as you can see I’ve instead grabbed some stills off the TV news just MOMENTS ago. So folks this stuff is hot. Today Juror number 3 was chosen. Hurray! Only 9 more plus all the alternatives, which will probably be 2 per juror, so we’re looking at a total of 36 people. Hahahahaha. 36 people with no prior standing opinions about R. Kelly, sex with minors, and willing to give up possibly months or YEARS of their life-in Chicago. Hahahahaha. Good luck!

Martin Luther King Jr. James Brown and Vh1?

Tonight Vh1 rebroadcast a program they ran this weekend. The Night James Brown Saved Boston . That of course makes no sense when you first hear because James Brown is dead. Then you what a few minutes and realize they’ve gone all the way back to 1968, right after Martin Luther King’s assassination. Turns out James Brown was scheduled to perform in Boston the night after MLK was killed. So as part of Vh1’s Rock Doc series they put together this program to coincide with the 40th anniversary or Dr. King’s death.

The Clash on WTTW. OK So PBS is Now VH1

You know how VH1 has all those history-of-a-band shows called Behind the Music? Well I’m all about PBS lately, so tonight I tuned to a truly odd experience. It was basically and hour and a half “concert” by The Clash on the Chicago local PBS station WTTW. The normal way one of these rock shows is done is 90 percent interview and 10 percent music. This one was the opposite, it was primarily a series of recorded live performances and every so often they would slow things up and have a few words in voiceover as they showed still images. I honestly don’t know how it got made or how it got on the air. It reminds me being a kid and see FEAR on Saturday Night Live and wondering “how did this happen?” And then the “commercial” came on. Ah! Still pledge drive. And really, on PBS stations across the country, damn near anything is liable to come on during a pledge drive.
