Did I Mention it was Recently St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago. Green River!
Yes. Yes I know I’m like 2 posts behind with 2 wonderful cliff hangers still hanging. But I’ve been busy! Seriously, there’s a whooooole bunch going on behind the scenes. For example to your right is a Newsletter sign up that you should be signing up for!!! And I’ve gone through a lot of trouble creating a super secret page with a surprise gift (my 1 minute 44 second masterpiece of a short “film”). Plus I was making a website for my mom’s mail box rental place called Mail Box Depot right here in Chicago. AND on top of that I’ve been creating my brand new…uh..”themed” blog. I’ll give you hint about that one, it’s called BigAsstastic.com.
So I’ll mention some recent Myspace related stuff. For instance, if you keep looking to your right you might notice the newly created MyBlogLog widget. And one of my things on there is my Myspace location. Well, I’ve got about a 1000 friends over there and this past week, on March 17, I sent them all a St. Patrick’s Day photo. I don’t really give a positive or negative about the holiday. But Myspace is a weird place; I guess like all the social networking sites, you have a core group of people and then a ton of people who are…less core. At any rate I make a point of trying to touch base with all my Myspace friends at least on the holidays. So that comes to about once a month. It is an 8 hour job to message all of them. BY HAND. That means ONE AT A TIME. Because the Myspace security is so tight AND people now choose this setting of making you have to type that string of crazy letters and numbers to PROVE you want to send them a message or comment. That means sending a message to one person is not one step, its’ like 3. Now multiply that by 1000. It was a long night! But I give and give and give…
So when you send that many messages you start to get some back. And that’s what touching base is all about; it’s a good way to see what people are up to, and you can also let them know where you’re coming from by the “card” you send them. In my case I went to Wikipedia and I got this picture.

One person sent me a message asking why St. Patrick’s Day means we need to dye the Chicago River green? And if that’s the case why don’t we KEEP dyeing in all year for all the other holidays. And I sent her a message-well, here I’ll just copy it.
“majority rules” Did you know this city has 3 gigantic ethnic populations Black, Polish and Irish. Historically the first 2 groups have lived here but haven’t had a lot of “pull,” but the Irish had a very strong presence at City Hall, Fire dept. Police dept, so….green river.
When I lived in NY the Jewish population…
When I lived in LA the Mexican population…
And I’m sure by the time I finally get up the guts to move to Alaska to work on a fishing boat the Eskimo population…
And yes I know they’re called Inuit now, but it would have ruined my punchline!
