Getting new tires and getting rid of old ones

BatmanShop

So my sister called today. It was about the tire situation. A few months ago 2 of her tires got punctured, and then one day a few weeks later 2 more were flat. The first time I had her meet me at a tire shop on 74th and Cottage Grove and they charged us about 30 dollars for each replacement used tire. They also took the old tires off and put on the ones they sold us. I usually go to a place on 85th and Commercial but this was a tight fix. So now she’s able to afford 2 new tires, so plans to buy 2 now and 2 more in December, and she wants to know what she should do with the old used tires. I think she should take the best 2 used tires and keep them in her trunk as her official spares. Have them put a wheel on one of the tires, and keep the other one in the trunk too as en extra-extra spare. And either take the spare donut that’s in the trunk into the house or keep it in the trunk too, since she doesn’t use the trunk much.

My opinion is that she should probably wait and get all 4 tires at once. If she goes to a shop they tend to have deals like “buy 4 get a free one.” Although last year at this same exact time last year my girlfriend (of the time) and I both bought tires from Tirerack.com. They will ship them to the shop of your choice or straight to your house, like I did-no shipping charge. Then I took them to 85th street and had them installed and balanced for a low price in about 20 minutes (and they took our old ones with no charge). See, getting rid of tires in Chicago by a tire shop usually has some fee attached. A few dollars or so, I think there’s some tax they have to pay so they usually pass that on to the customers. And that’s why most people just put them in the alley where the kids play with them for a few days and then they disappear.
