  1. Hi Dave -
Thanks for the comment. Wow, I commend you for signing up after 9/11, that’s incredible. My dad was in the Navy (back in the 80s) as well, but he was out by the time I was 4 years old, so this is my first experience with being around a lot of military people. Everybody has been very nice and it’s been a wonderful experience - I guess I am just out of place. I’ve spent the last 4 years in an uber-liberal college town full of hippies and San Antonio, TX is drastically different! I will say the weather is great though! I appreciate your comment and I hope you have a great weekend (or what’s left of it!)

  3. Good Lord! How sick! I can’t even scroll back up that way.

Anyway, I don’t know how you feel about tags Dave, but I tagged you on my blog.

  4. Hi Sheila!
I was just emailing with “Cooper” who came by to your event Sunday.

And yeah this image is a unique, but I can understand how it might be perceived as cute or freaked out-depends on context, in my opinion anyway.

And I guess I feel ok about “tagging” I just have to find out what it means…

  5. Dave,

Ever since I started MySpace, it’s been nothing but a love/hate relationship. On one hand, I use it to keep in touch with people whom I am close to or who are far away from me that I consider worth keeping in touch with. But, the more I think about it, that’s what email and the phone is for. So, in the end, why the hell do I even bother to keep my profie up for? Made no sense to me. I’ll just say, I allowed myself to be pressured into that silly ’social networking’ atmosphere that is MySpace, Facebook, or any other Narcisstic lonely people craving for attention.com.

The saving grace about MySpace is that I’ve actually made few connections with regular people who have some intelligence and sense. The rest are a bunch of little emo kids who need to be slapped upside the head. But, I think the people that post strange comments on your profile are the ones that make me think, ‘hmmmm!’ It’s strange. But, we’ve come to the point where these sites have become part of our lifestyle. I don’t know whether that is a good or bad thing anymore.

  6. Hi K
Really appreciate you giving this some thought. In other parts of this blog (and other people’s blog) I’ve been quietly waging a a a war against twitter as the ULTIMATE waste of time/social network. I find it to be SO silly especially the fanfare-blogcatalog does the exact same thing.

But in this piece I’m showing a good person has misjudged the mode of exchange. In another arena that image might be cute. Same with your gender-that mismatch and the place are just off because these networks make you feel close, but you’re really separated by the giant space of a public forum.

    Thanks again for coming by!
