T-Mobile G2 with Google Discount of the Year. Take a Look at Mine

So the bad news is that after 4 and a half solid years my SUPER advanced MDA smartphone had a screen failure. The good news is that something like the T-Mobile G2 with Google exists and makes me completely forget the loss of my phone. The T-Mobile G2 with Google, as it’s called is a phone so new it didn’t even come out until TODAY. But I got my G2 a day early, so I’m able to show you some pictures and a video from the place I got mine on super low discount-Let’s Talk, CLICK HERE to visit them.

Of course that’s the G2 in real life, the advertised picture is pretty fancy but I think it’s pretty accurate too. You can go to the website and see for yourself.

A place to get the best price on these phones is…

Surprise it’s ebay! It’s pretty obvious if you think about it, but recently I wanted to get ANOTHER G2 so I went over and saw a bunch of them. If you go look at the prices over there it’s the best possible place for a break price other Let’s Talk in my opinion.

Anyway back in ’99 I was another “government employee” working on the 2000 Census project as a crew leader. I had about 40 folks working under me and decided it was time for a “cell phone.” And Let’s Talk, then as now, had the BEST PRICES. Those guys have rebates and specials on phones I don’t see anywhere else. I’m telling you they have a deal on the T-Mobile G2 that I don’t think is too easy to find, so last week I pre-ordered it.

4G and Android

So let’s see, officially “Based on 4G network speeds currently available in the US; our new HSPA+ network not available everywhere. Google, the Google logo, Google Voice, Google Voice Search, Gmail, Android, and Android Market are trademarks of Google Inc. ” And so in a nutshell if you don’t want or like iPhones they Android is a VERY viable alternative. I knew for a FACT I didn’t want ATT Wireless or the closed source that comes with iPhones. And a lot of people feel that way, and it’s why Androids are taking off. In fact I looked a few different carriers/phones on Let’s Talk.

I checked out the Droid 2 on Verizon. They have a really good network, they’re own CDMA, but in my memory I always assume they can be a little pricey, but that’s not really the case anymore. So that Droid 2 giant screen almost had me.

And I also looked at a Sprint Evo. MAN this phone does a lot and it’s just great to look at. It’s also by HTC, so like my old MDA and new T-mobile G2 it’s a phone “type” that I know pretty well.

Sprint Evo

But since I had a no-contract account with T-mobile I decided to stick with them. Yesterday I took the G2 out on my half hour fat man walk to get back in shape 10 minutes after the UPS guy dropped it off, and I was able to figure it out WHILE WALKING. I got online and started streaming some exercise music.

Don’t get me wrong I TRIED to save my MDA. Years ago back in the 2000′s I was one of those guys hanging out at Howard’s Forum who didn’t mind taking apart an expensive phone or changing the firmware on his own. For the MDA I was actually able to find the service manual. Because I think what happened to it was the screen just blew a few pixels and that eventually spread and basically made it look like this…

HTC MDA

Next I went to eBay and phone what was SUPPOSED to be a compatible screen and then began this ugly job…

MDA taken apart

But I really don’t think you want to be involved with this! The phone itself still works, and HTC quoted me a repair price, but that $10 screen from eBay was calling my name. And I did a great job, it still works fine. But that screen isn’t responding to touch, so I think I got screwed. SO I’m putting this bad boy out to pasture and one day I’ll get back to it and find the RIGHT screen. In the meantime I just switched SIM cards and I’ve been on the T-Mobile G2 with Google every since-that “ever since” means a whole 24 hours!

I am kinda one of those cell phone junkies and right now I’m debating over the new Blackberry Torch or PalmPre..have you tested any of these bu chance?

    Hey C!

You know what? I haven’t “tested” those, but I have HELD them hahahah and those 2 have a LOT in common in terms of power and just generally a “professional” look. It’s sort of why I use Lets Talk. When you can pull up the data sheet and do a side by side it makes it easy to rule one out, that’s what happened when I did the Evo, Droid 2 and G2. I saw that 8 gigs, fm radio, HD video!! and I was like ok, this is the direction to go.

And dude, get in on this mobile thing (previous article). My old MDA didn’t really show me how the mobile plugin on this blog looked but now I can see it correctly-AND I can see how my ads look when I do mobile marketing MUCH better. Clicks for 3-5 cents, build out a BIG mailing list in any niche.

Just installed Wp Mobile Pack and now have a simpler mobile version than what I already had plus it gives me all types of options and even shows me stats on how many mobile hits I have. For instance as of right now, it says I have had 3195 desktop hits and 56 mobile hits in the last 7.3 hours. But I have not inserted google mobile adsense yet

At the far bottom left end of my footer on MSB you can use the mobile switch button to view it although I must admit the post pages look better than the main page :)

Yeah the mobile version of this sites looks very, very nice. But I put that plugin in a long time ago so I’m not sure if it’s as good as this Pack you’re talking about so I’ll have to check that out. This one just detects and then gives them people a mobile theme “carrington” I think it’s called.

For my mobile money sites I use that combo and I use XsitePro because it makes doing mobile super easy

You gettin’ 3-4 THOUSAND people on your blog a day? Man, that’s John Chow territory!

Hold up before you JC me! That’s the mobile pack stats which says “hits” and we all know what that may refer to. Other statistical platforms I use show lower numbers for unique real live humans visiting. So it depends on interpretation in conjunction with the other stat platforms as I do not yet know how quite accurate the mobile stats pack are especially considering the following disclaimer: “The Mobile Pack keeps a basic local tally of mobile traffic. However, we recommend you register with an external provider to obtain much richer statistics”

    btw,
The one I use does pretty much the same and uses carrington as well and it has this thing called Check Mobile Status which shows how mobile ready your site is. It’s a neat tool page that can be accessed at http://ready.mobi/ and you might want to check how it rates your site ;)

  • DaveNo Gravatar (Author) said:

Hahaha, yeah I figured the numbers were like what you see in those cpanel stats “hits” being all the stuff that called up sitemaps, images, html, etc. That’s good though. Oh man I’ve been doing mobile almost a year I’ve got so many mobile tools it would make you sick. It makes ME sick, hahaha Thanks of course, I’ll pass on a tip in return-I know everybody is crazy over Aweber but I think MailChimp is insane, so much free stuff and so customizable http://eepurl.com/bhaSr Bam, there you go.

Since our discussion I logged into Google Analytics for the first time in like a YEAR. I still love statcounter as just a raw look at exactly WHO came WHERE they came from and WHEN. So for me that one just kills it. Especially for mobile. I use it ALL the time to fight with mobile traffic I bought when they lie to me about where the traffic is coming from and try to say 500 clicks from India, Indonesia and Nigeria were US clicks, and I just give them my mobile statcounter login and say look for yourself. But Google-ANAL is good though for really making a site seo optimized-that and webmaster tool, but I ALWAYS weigh the usefulness now over do I need that kind of data vs. how much I want them to know about a particular site (or that I even own it).

Man, that last part you said there sounds like you’re doing some stealth 007 type marketing!

    btw,
Didn’t know Mail Chimp was free if you had under a thousand optins, that’s tite!?

  • DaveNo Gravatar (Author) said:

Hahaha, I know right! Just that, for BUSINESS, I’m not going to give them all my data. You kow what I mean?

And yeah, Chimp also advertises you can send 3000 messages but actually its 6000! So I had my woman, who’s about to get involved with something called Etsy, include mailing as part of her strategy you know? Why make a 1000 a month when that can be a list and 10,000 a month. Those ladies buy that stuff.

But I save a lot using it. (and that free wordpress autoresponder too) I mostly convert mobile traffic (cheap) to desktop so that I can send them clickbank/cpa/cj offers. And when/if I go back to CPV/PPV, same technique.

Hey man, if I ever start going to “events” we need to eventually do a meet up. 2011 no matter what!
