Wordpress 2.5 is Not Nearly as Ugly if You Use the Fluency Interface
Ladies and gentlemen. I present to you the Fluency interface . It’s a Wordpress plugin I read about over in the Entrecard Forums. I made it crystal clear on this blog I have a FEW problems with Wordpress 2.5 for functionality reason, but I also have problems with the new interface of the Dashboard. I do NOT like the colors and its just too “big.” It’s spread out all over the place and hard to manage, much less efficient than the last version. I seriously can not imagine what the thinking was that has made the new Dashboard just…uncomfortable. And DANGEROUS, a damn delete button next to a save button. ANNNNYYYWAYY. I heard about this plugin, and it’s at least different from than the one I’m stuck with. And plugins are great, because they’re easy to install and sleek.

As you can see it’s a rather masculine black and gray color. But really the great thing about it is the convenience of reaching the controls. They’re all along the left side, and generally just easy to keep one screen without needing to scroll around to reach various controls. Now obviously, if I’m doing any tutorials like I did the other day for my making money online post , where I showed my dashboard, I think I’ll have to turn this plugin off so that most people can follow along with an interface that they’re familiar with. Unless Fluency becomes popular and everybody gets it.

Now my belief that the Wordpress 2.5 new color scheme is awful is MY opinion. But pastels are just one of those things you’ve got to really think about and match well. The new Wordpress has a feature that lets you switch back to the old color layout, and I had already switched back, but the new colors were still around the edge. Fluecny just says, "Yo dude; you ready to REALLY make a change?" And there you go.

As a side note, you can also see my recent experiment with the Entrecard network here in this stats. It’s been fun and I’ve met some new people. Maybe I’ll do a whole post. But that’s what everybody does; they join and then write about joining. But here’s one final image of the widgets-sadly it doesn’t change the behavior; a monkey in a diner suit is still a monkey.

I might check that out - I am not happy with the new widget part on 2.5…is it any easier to manage w/this dashboard?
Hi Chelle!
I added a new picture for you to see. But no, the widget PROBLEM is still a problem. Any text widgets are erased if you take them out, and you can’t control 2 sidebars and just test out ideas without going through SO many steps.
that’s a bummer…i know what they were trying to accomplish with it, but it’s just not working for me at all! I actually stopped using widgets completely on my site & just put the php code I wanted in the sidebar.php file! oh well - if you find a solution to that one please do share!
Yeah, I will do that.
In fact I’m about to do my internet stuff for the night-as I use my fabulous internet radio to get a little metal mood music!
??wp2.5.1???????????
Uh, hi. I think you’re asking does it work with the upgrade. Yes.
